What a week!

What a week!

This week has been bonkers and exhausting and exhilarating so a little bonus post is needed.

1) On Monday I ran a 10 km PB which was around 3 minutes faster than my previous PB! It was in pouring rain, running through standing / rushing water on the ground, horrific conditions but I kept a positive mindset, pushed through and nailed it!

2) On Tuesday I got a job offer! It was one I was willing to accept, the terms look great and they are exactly in the middle of the range I was hoping to achieve. Big tick, new job accepted!

3) On Wednesday I resigned from my current role. This was both exhilarating and heart breaking. I love my current boss, I had played out the conversation about 20 different ways in my head and all of them ended with her being at least a bit angry and shouting. Instead, she was upset, but happy for me. She understood my reasons and didn't try to make me feel guilty and for that I will always be thankful.

4) On Thursday I told the rest of my team that I was leaving. There was shock, there was sadness, but ultimately they are happy for me and we've already made plans for keeping in touch. I adore my team and I would happily scoop them up and take them with me to my new job if I could. I will really miss them all when I leave in a few weeks.

5) On Friday the news was broken to a few more people by my boss. We've started planning handovers and prioritising what is most important to be completed before I leave. The conversation is a bit strained at the moment, but that is to be expected, it's very new and raw right now.

6) On Saturday, after three nights of very poor sleep and waking up between 3:30 - 5:00 am trying to get back to sleep again, I went to parkrun and my wonderful partner paced me to try to run the full 5 km in under 30 minutes. This is something I've been aiming for since the half marathon I mentioned in the last post (around five years ago). I not only got under 30 minutes, I smashed it and ran 28:38! I was SO happy to have finally managed it and so grateful to my partner for helping me. We then went out for an early celebration of my birthday which is coming up this week, and combined it with celebrating the new job and the 5 km achievement. It was nothing short of a perfect afternoon to round off a massive week.

On Sunday, I shall rest, I've earned it! What. A. Week!!!
